Cultural awareness and tradition are essential in helping young children develop a positive sense of identity and build self-esteem. Studies show that cultural appreciation and understanding contribute to building a positive self-image. Culture and tradition offer a sense of belonging and comfort and serve as an anchor that binds a person to their roots. Having a deep understanding of the connection that one has with the extended members of the culture helps the young ones realize their self-worth.
Teaching about cultures is important because we learn about other people. People were born all over the world, in different lands, with cultures and traditions different from our own, but we all have the same origins. We teach our children about our culture and thoughts by embracing these differences.
We offer weekly cultural classes for children of all ages. These classes run on Sundays between September and June, and we do not offer cultural classes in July and August. Please get in touch with the society for more information.
Yoga has many benefits. It can help reduce stress and anxiety, improve heart health, relieve back pain, reduce inflammation, improve sleep quality, and increase flexibility and balance. Yoga is also known to help with depression and improve mental health.
JDHSS offers a weekly Yoga class for everyone interested in Yoga. The course focuses on beginner’s Yoga and keeps it light so persons of all ages can participate. There is no cost to participate in the program, but we encourage participants to register before joining the program. It helps with communication regarding the Yoga class.
The class schedule is every Saturday from 9 AM to 10 AM.
